Total Eclipse at the Heart
On April 8, 2024, RENEW joined The Village Worcester and other community partners in a community celebration of the solar eclipse. The event, organized by local NASA ambassador, Antonio Ravelli, featured education stations for planets and other heavenly bodies. RENEW was delighted to hold down the education station for the Sun, a logical position for an organization devoted to bringing the benefits of solar energy to people who are typically shut out of accessing them.

Our table was devoted to educating elementary, middle, and high school students about how solar PV panels convert the sun’s light into electricity. We used solar-powered lawn stake lights as a simple example.

We also gave away solar stake lights with a printed band inviting people to take our skills and interests recruitment survey to get involved in planning and building community-owned solar projects in Worcester.
